Stephen Tharrett

Stephen Tharrett will reflect on the history of health and fitness clubs and discuss strategies for the future. |
Stephen Tharrett is the president of Club Industry Consulting, a private company formed in 2006 to provide advisory and management services to the global health and fitness club industry. Their past clients include Boston College, Brinker International, Tennis Corporation of America, Technogym, and World Class Fitness.
Along with serving as president of Club Industry Consulting, Tharrett is heavily involved in public speaking. Hes delivered keynote addresses at conventions all over the world as well as stateside at Athletic Business, CMAA, IHRSA, and SIBEC.
From 2008 to 2009, Tharrett served as CEO and board member of the Russian Fitness Group, a privately held fitness company operating 30 clubs and franchising 18 throughout Russia.
Tharrett worked for more than 20 years with ClubCorp, a billion dollar private club company based in Dallas, Tex. At ClubCorp, Tharrett had several roles ranging from director to senior vice president for athletics, golf, and tennis and served on the company's leadership cabinet and business planning committee.
Tharrett is the author of four fitness management textbooks published by Healthy Learning and has worked as coeditor on several editions of ACSM's Health and Fitness Facility Standards and Guidelines.
In addition, Tharrett is a former IHRSA board member and was president from 1996 to 1997.
