The University of Miami Wellness Center is a premier fitness, recreation, and wellness facility located on the Coral Gables campus of the University of Miami. Since opening in January 1996, the Wellness Center has welcomed thousands of members and guests every day. Group exercise classes, intramural sports, wellness programs, and instructional classes are just a few of the activities offered.

The Challenge

The University of Miami Wellness Center was operating a series of non-integrated systems to manage its Wellness Center. According to Mandy Gad, IT Director, an initiative was taken to see if a fully integrated, single source solution could be found to replace its various disparate systems.

"Our membership program had been built in house, our program registration was done using FileMakerPro, which was not connected with the membership database, personal training was scheduled with yet another software program, facility reservations were done with Excel, and bookings and appointments were made on paper". This created a customer service and audit trail nightmare."We were trying to provide the best customer service possible and taking a patron's information over and over in different areas of the facility depending on what service they requested, was no longer acceptable" says Gad. "Also, while we were tracking what our customers were purchasing in the membership office and who sold it to them, we were clueless as to what other services and products they were purchasing throughout the facility and who was responsible for those sales". After thoroughly researching different products in the market, the University of Miami selected CSI Software.
