Wednesday, September 17, 2008 2:30p – 3:25p, Laurel Room
Frank McDuff, Vice President of Finance and Administration
There are many stories in the news today talk about the growing problems
of Identity Theft and Credit Card Fraud. To combat this issue, a consortium
of Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and others (together
called the Payment Card Industry) developed a Data Security Standard
with five levels of compliance. Join us for this session to gain knowledge
regarding the actions of CSI to achieve Level One compliance, how this
provides an added level of security for your members, and to learn about
your responsibilities to attain the required compliance level for you
facility.
Reporting and Query Building
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 10:30a – 11:25a, Teak Room
Khan Ghazanfar, Consultant
The main reason for collecting data in a management system is to have
the ability to analyze that data via reports. Spectrum NG comes with
a wide array of pre-programmed reports and a powerful Query Builder tool
that you can use to create some of your own. Join us for this session
to see what reports are available to you and how to design custom reports.
Creating Your Own Training Manuals and Schedule
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 11:30a – 12:25p, Cottonwood Room
Horia Stroe, Consultant
 Part
of the implementation process is teaching your staff how to use the software.
In many industries, the greatest training aide is a complete
procedures and training manual. We took the first step in creating Standard
Operating Procedures for many end-user procedures in Spectrum NG, but
it is up to you to take it a step further and modify those SOP’s
to accommodate your individual policies and procedures. Once you have
created the manuals, you then need to establish an effective schedule
for training your staff. This session will give you some insights on
how to accomplish both things.
Utilizing the CSI Software API
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 11:30a – 12:25p, Laurel Room
Marshall Hinman, Senior Software Developer
 The
Spectrum NG web services API is made available to provide programmatic
access to Spectrum NG data. This API provides direct access to Spectrum
NG data to create an array of new integration possibilities using any
programming language or environment that is capable of consuming a SOAP
web service, including Microsoft .NET™ or Java™.
In this session, you will learn how to consume the Spectrum NG web services
API, using Visual Studio .NET to implement a single-sign-on system for
your members, allowing them to sign on to your club's website using their
Spectrum NG Online Services credentials.
20 Frequently Asked Questions

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 2:30p – 3:25p, Cottonwood Room
Ross Benton, Consultant
Nicole Schneider, Consultant
 While
our software is generally very easy to use and rather intuitive, there
are still several things that leave our customers scratching their
heads. So, we’ve pored over the support logs and talked to our
support technicians and consultants to compile a list of the 20 most
frequently asked questions. Join us for this session to get the answers
to those questions, and maybe even get the answers for a few of your
own.
League and Tournament Manager
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 1:30p – 2:25p, Cedar Room
Ross Benton, Consultant
So, you have a 30+ team league that you need to make a schedule for,
keeping in mind that certain teams cannot play at certain times? You
also need to make sure that all players on the teams are in the eligible
age range and gender? Well, what used to be very time consuming to do
by hand is a breeze in the new League and Tournament Manager! Join us
for this session to see how to make a formerly arduous task into something
that only takes a few minutes.
Utilizing “Building Blocks” to Train Your Staff
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 1:30p – 2:25p, Cottonwood Room
PJ Gustafson, Director of Educational Services
 Even
if you have a CSI Consultant on-site to do the initial training for your
staff, you will eventually have to provide some training for
them – either primary training for new hires or recurrent training
for your existing employees – but what is the best way to make
sure they will retain what you teach them? For years, teachers have been
using the “building blocks” method to teach difficult concepts.
In this session, you will learn about this method of teaching and how
it applies to teaching Spectrum NG.
Data Backups & Updates
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 1:30p – 2:25p, Laurel Room
Dr. Barry McKeone, Ph.D., MCSE, Director of Information Technology
Raj Shah, MCSE, Senior Information Technology Specialist
Ever since the computer replaced paper and pencil as the principal accounting
tool for businesses, one thing has become inevitable, sooner or later
that computer is going to break. The question you have to ask yourself
is how much data can I afford to lose?
In this session we will demonstrate how straightforward it is to backup
your precious data using the SQL 2005 backup wizard. We will also show
how health checks for your data can be incorporated in the same routine.
Additionally, we will discuss the importance of performing regular test
database restores and then documenting the process for when a real emergency
actually occurs. Similarly, we will talk about the importance of password
encrypting your backups.
In the same session we will also discuss the power of the Microsoft
group policy editor to formulate and enforce end user restrictions from
a Windows 2003 server. We will also show how this same tool can be used
to deploy and update applications to the end user without having to go
around to each computer and manually install them.
In addition we will go over Microsoft SUS (software update service)
as centralized source, to download, test, and push out Windows updates
to end user computers. Next we will discuss how enterprise anti-virus
products can also be deployed and managed from a central console based
upon company policy.
And finally, we will discuss the importance of deploying and maintaining
a firewall to keep up with the ever evolving threats from the internet.

from the other scheduling modules will be displayed on your Event Manager
schedule so that you know exactly which spaces and times are available
for all of the other external and internal functions that take place.
Join us for this session to see how to incorporate all of the events
taking place in your facility into one large master schedule, and to
see how to book banquets, parties, gym space, and any other event in
your facility.
Assessing Knowledge Retention After Training
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 2:30p – 3:25p, Cottonwood Room
PJ Gustafson, Director of Educational Services

Training is an integral part of ensuring that your software implementation
is a success. However, you need a way of determining whether your training
was effective, and what areas you need to have recurrent training in.
This session will show you how to develop various written and practical
tests to determine whether the training you provided actually took hold,
so that you may correct any problems before the “real” test
occurs – when a customer is standing at your desk.
Know Your Data
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 2:30p – 3:25p, Laurel Room
Tai Law, Director of Software Development
Want to know your data? In this session, you will learn where all of
your data resides at the database level in case you need to do your own
reports that suit your daily business operations and analysis. The data
includes, but is not limited to, members, memberships, guests, prospects,
sales, inventory, deferred income, series sales, gift cards, member check
ins, employee check ins and reservations.
Maximizing Your CSI Software Investment

Randy Cruz, Account Manager – Eastern North America
Toni Grafner, Account Manager – Western North America
Implementing a new software solution is a large task and there is a
lot to learn. One of the benefits of Spectrum NG is that it is modular,
so you can choose not to implement certain modules initially to make
the job easier. The problem is, sometimes facilities do not know when
or how to implement their remaining modules. Join us for this session
to learn how to go beyond the basics and to use the system to its fullest
potential.

and put it on the computer and online!
Creating & Utilizing Practice Sets
Wednesday, September 17, 2008 10:30a – 11:25a, Cottonwood Room
Nicole Schneider, Consultant

After you’ve completed the training and determined the effectiveness
of that training, the only way that training will succeed long-term is
if your employees get to practice what they learned on a regular basis.
This is especially true if there is a large gap between the time your
employees were trained and the time they start using Spectrum NG. This
session will show you a good method for creating and using practice sets
by creating realistic scenarios that your employees will face.

Active Directory Integration with Spectrum NG
Wednesday, September 17, 2008 11:30a – 12:25p, Laurel Room David Molina,
Senior Software Developer

With the advent of Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003, Active Directory
(AD) use has really revolutionized how IT managers manage access to their
network.
Some of the benefits are listed below:
• Single sign-on, which allows Windows users who prove their identities
to AD servers to automatically use corresponding security profiles on
mainframes, database servers and other restricted access applications.
• Automatic provisioning, which lets administrators set up a user account,
assign it membership in certain user groups and establish a location
for a user desktop machine. This automatically leads to allocation of
telephone and fax numbers, delivery of a desktop and access to job-related
software tools and applications.
• Restricted access to specific applications and datasets based on group
membership(s).
• Integration of biometric devices or multiple password challenges, which
enables support for multi-factor authentication for organizations with
stringent security requirements.
• Reduction of lost productivity or deployment delays from all of the above
owing to poor Active Directory planning, design and management.
This session will cover the specific application access aspect of AD
with Spectrum NG. We will cover setting up a relationship between AD
and SNG. After we've walked thru the basics on how to optimize AD for
SNG, we'll move on to automatic user account creation and application
access maintenance for the life of the AD account.
Online Services
Wednesday, September 17, 2008 1:30p – 2:25p, Cedar Room
Nicole Schneider, Consultant
 Picture
this scenario – one of your members has a long and frustrating
day at the office and they decide to come by the facility in the evening
to blow off some steam with a game of racquetball. But, when they get
there, they find all of the courts are taken and they are informed that
they have a past-due balance to pay off! Well, with the Spectrum NG Online
Services, that same person could have logged on before leaving their
office to reserve a court and pay their bill and more. Join us for this
session to see how you can set up and use this powerful service.
